5.2.14. APIs (Python)

5.2.14.1. [Major] Enhanced logging support in RTI Connext Python API with output_handler_extended

The RTI Connext Python API’s output_handler implementation allows redirecting Connext log messages to a callable that receives the message as a plain string. This differs from other RTI Connext APIs, where the callables receive a LogMessage struct containing additional information such as log level, facility, and timestamp, not just the message text.

Previously, the Python API lacked this extended functionality. To address this, a new API called output_handler_extended was introduced. This API redirects log messages to a callable that receives a LogMessage struct, providing all the informational fields available in other APIs. The LogMessage struct and its related types, such as LogLevel and LogFacility, were also added.
