Database Integration Service history

Does the Database Integration Service (DIS) allow unlimited collection history for a topic, or does it limit the quantity of data to reflect the QOS settings?

I have an application that requires historical data recording and retrieval, i.e. sensor data is stored in a database and retrieved at some future point in time: days, weeks, months later for post mission analysis. Will DIS support this capability?
