How licensing works in RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW

Note: Applies to RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW version 3.1.1 or later

The best way to understand the licensing methods of the RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW is to separate them per platform: Windows and NI Linux.

Licensing in Windows

When you download the RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW (from the VI Package Manager or NI Tools Network) you will be asked to accept the RTI license agreement before you can complete the installation.

You can find complete instructions on how to install and use the RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW in the Getting Started Guide for RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW. You can access this guide from LabVIEW going to Help-->RTI DDS Toolkit for LabVIEW --> Open GettingStarted guide (pdf) ... You can also view it online.

Licensing in NI Linux

If you are planning to deploy your application to an NI board, you will need additional support files for the RTI DDS toolkit to run on it. By default, NI Linux support files require a license installed in your NI board. To request that license, you can request it in this website: www.rti.com/go/labview-license-request

Once you request your license, you will receive it in your email in a couple of days. You just need to follow the instructions in the Getting Started Guide to copy it to your board.

You may also have an unlicensed support-file bundle (similar to real_time_innovations_lvdds_arm_support_unlicensed-<version>.vip). In that case, you do not need to request a license.
